How to Play Waffle Game Unlimited

Click or tap any unlocked tile to select it. The selected tile will glow with an amber ring.
Tap to Swap
Tap a second unlocked tile to swap their positions. Each swap decreases your remaining moves by 1.
Solve All 6 Words
Turn all 21 letters green before running out of swaps to claim your stars and achieve victory!
Tile Color Meanings & Directional Clues
Just like Wordle, Waffle provides instant color feedback after every swap to help you deduce the correct letter positions:
Green (Correct & Locked)
The letter is in the exact right position. Once green, the tile locks automatically and cannot be moved, saving your swaps for other tiles.
Yellow with Horizontal Arrow (β)
The letter belongs to the horizontal word on this row, but is currently in the wrong cell.
Yellow with Vertical Arrow (β)
The letter belongs to the vertical word on this column, but is currently in the wrong cell.
Yellow with Corner Arrow (‧)
Located on an intersection. The letter belongs to both the horizontal and vertical words intersecting here!
Grey (Neutral)
The letter does not belong to either the row or column passing through this cell. Swap it to another line!
5 Pro Strategies to Solve Waffles in 10 Swaps or Fewer
- Prioritize the 4 Corners and Center Intersection: The 9 intersection tiles belong to two words simultaneously. Locking an intersection letter green often gives you the breakthrough clue for both the horizontal and vertical words.
-
Follow Directional Arrows Strictly: Yellow tiles with
βmust move horizontally along that exact row. Never waste a swap moving a horizontal yellow tile to a different row! - Search for Obvious Anagrams: Look at the 5 letters currently occupying a line. Many times, 4 of the 5 letters are already in that row and just need a quick pairwise swap.
- Spot Common English Prefixes & Suffixes: Look for patterns like RE-, UN-, -ED, -ER, -ING, and -TY at the starts and ends of lines.
- Save Swaps for a 5-Star Rating: You start with 15 moves. Solving the puzzle with 10 or more swaps left awards a perfect 5-star rating!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Waffle Game Unlimited?
Waffle Game Unlimited is an online word puzzle inspired by crosswords and anagrams. Players must unscramble letters to form 6 five-letter words (3 horizontal and 3 vertical) on a waffle grid in 15 swaps or fewer.
How does Unlimited Mode work?
Unlike the original game which only permits one puzzle per calendar day, our Unlimited Mode gives you access to an infinite library of hand-curated English waffle puzzles. Simply click "New Puzzle" anytime to practice without daily limits.
What do the arrows on yellow letters mean?
Directional arrows indicate which word the yellow letter belongs to. A horizontal arrow (β) indicates the letter belongs in that row. A vertical arrow (β) indicates it belongs in that column. A corner icon (‧) means it belongs to both intersecting words.
Can green tiles be moved?
No, green tiles are locked in place because they are already in their correct position. This protects your progress and helps you narrow down the remaining unscrambled letters.
How does the 5-Star rating system work?
You begin with 15 swaps. Each swap you spend deducts from your final score. Finishing with 10+ swaps remaining awards 5 stars; 7-9 swaps awards 4 stars; 4-6 swaps awards 3 stars; 1-3 swaps awards 2 stars; and 0 swaps remaining awards 1 star.
